Our Mission
The Somali Education Center (SEC) is a year-round educational program that serves K-12 immigrant students and adult ESL students. SEC is a charitable, tax exempt, not-for-profit organization that is incorporated as a 501 (c)(3) .
Like math, science or reading and writing?
The Center provides tutoring in all subject areas for K-12 students. We emphasize math and science education, along with reading and writing. We believe that youth enrichment events and opportunities are an important component in educating our young people.

Like history and Love nature?
The Center provides enrichment and other non-academic activities by taking field trips to the Science Museum, Minnesota Zoo, Como Zoo, The Children's Museum and local parks, as well as inviting local police and fire departments to visit our center. More than 180 kindergarten through 12th grade students and 75 adult ESL students take part in one or more of our programs each week.

Volunteer for Summer School 2010!
We are looking for volunteers to serve as classroom aides and field trip chaperones for our summer program!
The program runs July 5th to July 29th, 2010, Monday through Friday from 9:00-1:00pm
Whether you want to give a couple hours a week or more, we can arrange a schedule that best suits your interests and availability.

Our programs are limited only by the imaginations of our community members. Their enthusiasm has generated programs far beyond the initial dream for SEC.
